INTRODUCTION TO THE DIFFERENT CULTURES IN NIGERIA

AN INTRODUCTION OF NIGERIAN PEOPLES AND THEIR CULTURES

The aim of this course is to help students realize, among other things, that:

(a) The culture in which he/she grew up is not the only culture in existence;

(b) There is not a single Nigerian culture

(c) Because of (a) and (b), their initial reaction when they encounter any new culture should be respect, not looking down on those from such culture.

To familiarize students with the Nigerian people and their ideology of culture, trade, moral obligation of citizens, develop students knowledge as well as encourage understanding of the role of culture within our society and wider organization.
